Hi LawVoyagers:

As you may or may not know I am a member of the serials enhancement committee for Voyager. I have taken a while to respond because I had to go through several documents to make a relevant response. I was at VUGM in April where we crafted our problem statements. I gave a copy of our LAWVUG enhancement requests to Linda Miller, from LC who is chair of the serials enhancement committee. She will also been act as a consultant to the Acquisitions Task Force which will be studying all the acquisitions and serials problem statements and our law-vug statements, which fall mainly in the acquisitions module. They will meet in Chicago on July 9.

All of the Enhancement Subcommittee chairs met last week in Atlanta at ALA to rank the problem statements of all the modules overall. All of the sub-committees were so upset with the lack of response by Endeavor to their hard work with last year's statements, that most of the subcommittees
voted to resubmit their statements from last year. The Serials subcommitt ee resubmitted their requests from last year.

Our number one request that fuller implementation of the MARC 21 holdings format for prediction was voted number 2 overall, being beaten out only by Sys Admin Security granularity. The Acquisitions request for increased operator control came in at number 3. These 2 items will cover a number of our problems.

In light of that I think we might want combine number 4 on our recommendati on list with number 2 and call it something like component level functional ity (feel free to come up with another term), since this issue wasn't really covered in any of the top ranked enhancements, and call it number 2. Number 3 would remain the same.

Although a strongly worded memo was attached to the ranked problem statements "encouraging" Endeavor to be more pro-active this time around, I think they are still planning to throw everything acquistions related into the lap of the task force which meets July 9. Hopefully Endeavor will listen to them.

Karen

Everyone,

I had an opportunity to speak with Margerie Bloss from Endeavor at ALA.
She suggested that I send our "Revised law enhancement recommendations" to Bob Persing, chair of the Acquisitions Task Force, and to her (to submit to Jim Meese, who has temporarily taken over Reeta Sinha's role since she left).

However, Margerie wants to be certain that the enhancements requested here are still our top priorities. Please let me know ASAP if these are still your top priorities.

The list is attached, but is also available at: http://law.pepperdine.edu/voyager/

Thanks, Andrea
