Mary Lu,
There is an national clearinghouse that is currently being developed
through CONSER. It's called the Publication Pattern Initiative. If you
will be at AALL, there is a program devoted to PPI on Sunday 7/21 @ 2:45.
OK, so it's a shameless plug for the program I'm coordinating - go shoot
me...
HOWEVER, Mary Lu, the publication pattern data is strict MARC holding
data, therefore, it is not specific to the quirks of any particular ILS -
and we all know that they have quirks! especially Voyager. With that
said, you can see the MARC coded publication pattern data (and perhaps
build your patterns from that data) currently in the 891 fields of
selected CONSER bib. records - but only in OCLC.
I hope this helps. Of course, it does not help as much as if Voyager and
other ILS fully implemented the MARC holdings standards!

As I continue to create publication patterns for our serials, I'm
wondering
if any Voyager law libraries who have staff with lots of time on their
hands (as if that would ever happen!) have tried to create a database
of
the most common law journals and the preferred pub. patterns. We've
all
had to struggle with these from the beginning and it's too bad there
isn't
a clearinghouse with information about them. As a newbie, I was just
wondering about this. Thanks.
