All,

Maybe it is time to give Jane B. what she asked for in 1999 at AALL: all of the law library directors to get together and determine what the law libraries need to be progressive (their pulse)! Jane was interested in a "Safire Group*" for law libraries.

Of course what we need is basic functionality, i.e. EDI with Lexis. Since it is the same parent company, I would think that Jane could do something. My director would be willing to go to bat on this.

Of course Jane (I am sure) was looking for something more progressive
(e.g. encompass or link finder) but in reality law libraries are struggling with basic functionality of the Voyager system and until that is resolved, who can devote resources to progress?

Andrea

*Safire Group is composed of the Voyager large research library directors.

I agree with Andrea. we do need a strategy. My director used to work for LEXIS, perhaps she can suggest someone fairly high up in the food chain

that we can speak to. I'd be happy to talk to her after the holidays and see what she suggests.

AK

P.s. Merry Christmas! and Happy New Year to one and all.
