Bernice:
Just to add a couple of refinements to what others have told you. We
also only get every 2nd, 3rd or 5th year of certain publications. We
set them up as biennials or tri or nonpredictive. We hae some of
these kinds of titles with a vendor like Book House who can handle
such requests. If it is truly not a standing order and we must go to
one our favorite legal publishers like West (who won't work through a
vendor), we also add a note in the pop box (a note that we have
stored using a keyboard macro software) Not a S.O.; see PO note. In
the purchase order we can add lots more information. The staff also
edit the line item date and add NASO next to the issue. Then when
this issue comes up on claim list that notes pops up, and I know to
call and initiate a new edition to be sent; we just continue to use
the same PO number.
