Here is the first draft of minutes from our LAW SIG meeting in Chicago. Please send your corrections and suggestions to me ASAP!

Law Libraries SIG Meeting Saturday, April 22, 2006 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Conveners: Sonia Luna-Lamas (St. Thomas University Law Library), Ruth Patterson Funabiki (University of Idaho Law Library)

Fifteen representatives of eleven different libraries attended the LAW SIG meeting on April 22. Sonia Luna Lamas presided, and Ruth Funabiki took notes.

After introductions of all members, there was a vote to approve minutes from the April 2005 meeting.

Members shared news and advice concerning UNICODE and Version 5 upgrades.

Members briefly reviewed Endeavor's "information handout."

Discussion and prioritization of the LAW SIG's "three questions" followed. The group agreed to create and rank four questions, hoping that there would be early news about our highest priority question. Since there have not been any substantial developments, the LAW SIG questions are as follows:

1. When will we be able to share prediction patterns for serials? 2. When will Endeavor apply the design philosophy (robust solution to a
long-standing problem) utilized for complex pattern prediction to the bindery, holdings display/collapse and authority functions? 3. When will 853 / 863 pairs display correctly in WebVoyage?

LAW SIG members discussed plans for a Saturday afternoon meeting during AALL in St. Louis. In addition to inviting a Voyager representative to participate, members requested a lengthy, detailed presentation by Melody Lembke on creating and maintaining prediction patterns. Members also announced a LAW SIG dinner outing to following the AALL "alphabet soup" reception.

Sonia Luna-Lamas was thanked for her two years of service, and Cindy May was elected as the new co-convener.
