By a show of hands, we determined that approximately ten of our group planned to attend AALL in New Orleans.
- Discussion topics for New Orleans - Cindy May asked for program suggestions for the New Orleans meeting. Ex Libris is providing $400.00 and a representative to join us in New Orleans. Suggestions included:
a. Ask Ex Libris representative to discuss and demonstrate the add-on products that are now available to Voyager customers through Ex Libris.
b. Discuss the processes used and problems faced by Voyager law libraries that are bulk-loading vendor records.
- Ruth volunteered and was re-elected to another term as co-convener of LAW-SIG. (This position is the EndUser convener position.)
Three questions for Ex Libris - The group decided to go ahead and respond to the EndUser Board’s request for “three questions” requested by the EndUser Board. After much discussion, three questions were selected.
THREE QUESTIONS FOR EX LIBRIS
- What mechanism can Ex Libris utilize or create for law libraries to share serials check-in patterns? (Last year’s response from Endeavor indicated that it was exploring SupportWeb as a venue for sharing complex patterns.)
- Can Ex Libris create a mechanism (akin to BatchCat in cataloging) for easy export/import of data to/from third party software, e.g. Banner accounting software, Gary Strawn’s various software products, or the Able/LARS bindery systems? Alternatively, can products such as Gary Strawn’s be made part of Voyager ILS software?
- How is the ExLibris product suite addressing the specialized requirements of legal materials? How can Law Library customers help?
